We Are Fire Defence UK
Fire Defence UK was established in 2002 by two serving members of a large metropolitan local authority fire brigade.
All our staff have a minimum of twenty years fire service experience and have served at the rank of assistant divisional officer.
Their backgrounds include three years as training officers at local authority training centres and at the International Fire Services College, Moreton in the Marsh in Gloucestershire, as well as training assignments overseas.
All staff are qualified instructors in breathing apparatus, fire behaviour and ventilation as well as being confined space trainers.
Professional and academic qualifications held by our staff are National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), minimum level 5 student for Diploma in Management, Cert. Ed 5307 Part 2 Teaching Certificate, First Aid Training Certificate to Acute Casualty Standards and membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers and the Institute of Management.

Trevor Bernard

CO-DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER
Trevor Bernard is the Co-Director and founding member of Fire Defence UK Ltd having started the company in 2004 with two work colleagues.
Trevor has completed 30 years’ service with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, holding numerous roles at Supervisory and Middle Management levels and finally as Head of the Joint Fire Safety & Police Community Safety Department for South Yorkshire. Each role undertaken has included a great deal of training delivery, mentoring and coaching to staff (uniformed and corporate) as well as members of the public.
His training roles have include working within the Training and Development Centre where he was responsible for fire training programs, course development and quality assurance. He has a level 3 practitioner in Coaching and Mentoring award and holds qualifications relating to Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
Trevor continues to develop his expertise in terms of training and knowledge relevant to the fire sector on a regular basis and has recently completed his Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
Since the establishment of Fire Defence UK Ltd, Trevor has delivered over 900 courses. He is a keen believer in quality over quantity and will always aim to deliver the right training, giving the best value to meet all our present and future customer needs.
Dez Omar

CO-DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER
Dez Omar is the Co-Director of Fire Defence UK Ltd having started the company in 2004 alongside two colleagues.
He has spent 30 years active service with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue holding several roles including Operational Officer, Station Manager and Training School Instructor.
His training role included both county training and four years at the National Fire Service College in Gloucestershire. It was during this time where Dez undertook training responsibilities both in the UK and abroad. He is currently an Assessor with the National Breathing Apparatus Challenge where he also sits on the organising committee looking at continued development within the UK Fire Service. He has done this since 2009.
Since the onset of Fire Defence UK Ltd Dez has run over one thousand training courses and continues to develop training courses to deliver to our valued customers.
Robin Kon
FIRE SAFETY & FIRST AID TRAINER
Robin Kon has been working on a self-employed basis as a Fire Safety Trainer since 2008 and as a First Aid Trainer since 2009.
He has the experience of 23 years as an operational Firefighter with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service where he received a large amount of training in various aspects of fire safety.
In the fire service his training role included teaching First Aid at Work to other operational Firefighters. He has a level 3 award in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and qualifications in First Aid.
He has trained almost 10,000 people in First Aid. He started working with Fire Defence UK Ltd in 2007, initially doing Fire Risk Assessments and has since delivered over 900 fire safety courses. He believes the most important thing is to make sure the people he has trained know exactly what they are supposed to be doing and to teach them in a way that helps them to learn.
Dave Bloomer
INSTRUCTOR
Dave Bloomer served 44 years in the fire service as an operational Firefighter and many years as a manager and within that role was an instructor and trainer in a number of areas - moving and handling, trauma care, fire safety and road safety in schools, devised and ran student fire fighters courses, road traffic collision instructor, liaison officer between four stations and then retired from the service in May 2015.
Dave is a dedicated instructor and able to get the best out of attendees. A quality addition to the team.
